Move Over Laws Exist for Everyone's Safety

Move over laws are those that signal drivers to give the right of way to police officers, fireman, ambulance drivers, and other first responders. Not giving these first responders freedom to pass safely can result in a ticket, or worse, injuring someone. Each state has its own version of move over laws, but they all generally want motorists to slow down to a safe and reasonable speed, or stop during an emergency response.

Move over laws exist to help protect the responders who protect and serve everyone. When you see red lights flashing on the road, be safe. Slow down, stop, or move over to the left or right. The goal is to help clear the best path for those professionals rushing to help others. Our dealership recommends that you think of safety when responders are rushing to address an emergency. Check to make sure you thoroughly understand our state’s move over laws.
